The success of the program has been supported by strong collaboration between the provider, school, and OVR staff. The school has gone above and beyond to support student participation, while the OVR team has ensured appropriate referrals and ongoing technical assistance. This coordinated approach has resulted in high-quality implementation, strong student engagement, and positive feedback, including recognition that the reporting submitted is among the best received from a provider.
A high school student participating in CBI visited the local CareerLink office to learn about employment services and community resources. After meeting with CareerLink staff, the student independently followed up with a counselor and began exploring employment options. School staff noted a significant shift from earlier hesitancy about adulthood to active curiosity and motivation, sharing excitement about discussing future career paths for the first time this school year.
A student participated in a multi week CBI program focused on workplace expectations, goal setting, and career exploration. A visit to a county career and technology center allowed the student to explore service and education related fields. Staff observed growth from a reserved and uncertain participant to a confident student who actively discussed goals, workplace skills, and future plans, demonstrating increased self-confidence and engagement in planning for adulthood.
CBI staff identified the need to explicitly teach how students present themselves in the community, including business casual dress, appropriate use of headphones, and professional behavior. These reflections are shaping curriculum updates for the next program year and reinforcing how CBI supports readiness for employment and community participation.
